Artist Statement

I am a visual artist using photography to explore and question the relationship between landscape and the perception of landscape. My current practice concentrates on the exploration of the edgeland and natural border of the south coast of Britain. Reflecting on political division, national identity and the fragile coastal geology, the work seeks to create a narrative through the conception of deconstructed and reconstructed landscapes. Through the use of familiar landscape motifs, which are imbued with symbolism, the work intends to challenge notions of scale, reality and perceived national identity. I work mostly with a mixture of film and digital medium, led by the process of exploration and experimentation.
